Starting by processing pre-composed sound materials
Nos Phillipé conjure a murky brooding
backdrop onto which layers of dense drones, detailed
textures and sub-bass rumblings merge to create a
claustrophobic and immersive world of ethereal
atmospherics. These sounds are primarily generated
by electric guitar, viola, acoustic guitar, turntable,
cymbal, FX pedals, keyboard, found objects
and field recordings

Isambard Khroustaliov

Note:
-you will gaze upon the very painting undisturbed,
let all your thoughts flow
and be prepared for a surprise when you jump out to the open.....
hold it and dive in and out (similar to optical
effect when staring on a board with regularly
positioned grid of holes)
-your personal story is unfolding whenever you travel inside
- your perceptions will vary
and meet at the same time when you share your experience
-it takes at least 20 minutes to get familiar with the painting
although great effect is felt immediately
-you can try to understand moreso observe what you see and think

Art Exhibition & Object Bazaar
For one evening only,
at The Foundry's basement gallery
In life, we are often faced with situations, things
or places that are unknown to us. This encounter
with the new can elicit feelings of fear, anxiety,
excitement or intrigue. Our body's natural response
is to produce adrenaline (in evolutionary terms this
promotes alertness against natural enemies). Terra
incognita exists somewhere between a literal loss of
direction and psychological hesitation - it is the
unknown land.
The multi-disciplinary conceptual show presents the
first collaborative effort between two young
curators and includes visual investigations into
topographic regeneration, transient moments &
psychological states.
All works will be for sale on the evening. The
Object Bazaar presents an opportunity to obtain
mysterious objects, which in uncertain moments may
act as totems. Monies raised on the night will be
donated towards the BA Photographic Arts (University
of Westminster) Degree Show fund.

The Henningham Family Press and
Michael James Jones present
THE 20TH CENTURY
Michael was invited by us at the Henningham Family
Press to make a solo artist's book or multiple. Our
Press is a family run art business, commissioning,
printing, binding, and selling book art, and also
conducting seminars, lectures, launches and
openings, from home and around London.
Michael is a Canadian who usually works in film. His
superb idiosyncratic style made him the perfect
artist to choose to make the first solo work at our
Press {i.e. we'd just screw it up if we intervened}.
We asked him to come up with an idea for a 'thing'
that we would facilitate. We are proud to present
'the 20th Century'.
It is a silkscreen print on what looks like a vinyl
record sleeve, under a layer of shrinkwrap that is a
constituent part of the work. We weren't sure
whether to call it a print, a multiple, or a
sculpture. We don't know what it means for it to be
'unwrapped'. This is probably due to Michael's
opinion that artists aren't here to solve problems,
but to create more of them.
